Anton Gericke

Anton Gericke was born in Johannesburg in 1947. He traveled extensively with his parents being in the hotel trade. He mainly went to school in one of the coastal cities in South Africa, namely Port Elizabeth.

He painted his first oil painting at the age of eight and was immediately recognised as a talented young person as he painted the staff of one of the hotels. Apart of his interest in music, he also studied pharmacy in Potchefstroom (medicine being his other great love).

He attended numerous art coursed at Technicon PE and with other popular South African artists. He was particularly influenced by Errol Boyley, Wessel Marais, Isabel le Roux, Pieter Millard and Dale Elliot but has developed his own distinctive style of painting.
